Mount Gilboa is a place of triumph and tragedy and its hillsides are filled with brautiful purple irises. Gilboa’s bubbling spring satisfied Gideon and his 300 warriors who defeated the Midianites here. In defeat, it is remembered as the mountain where King Saul met his end by his own hand while fighting the Philistines.
