Jerusalem from Mount of Olives David Roberts Bookmark
Engaging image printed on durable PVC.
Scripture is written in biblical Hebrew and translates to "Our feet have been standing within your gates, Oh Jerusalem!" Psalms 122:2
This bookmark is beautifully illustrated with David Roberts' painting titled 'Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives'. The Mount of Olives is a mountain that lies just outsdie adjacently to the eastern edge of the Old City of Jerusalem. At the time that David Robets journied through the Holy Land the Mount of Olives was still covered in the olive trees which gave it the name.
David Roberts traveled from Egypt across the Suez to Mount Sinai, Petra, Jerusalem, and the Galilee producing a large collection of drawings and watercolors of all the major holy sites. These works formed the basis of the tinted lithographs published soon after his return to England, a collection which enjoyed immense popularity in England and the United States. It provided the public the first glimpse of the biblical landscape and monuments known only by name. Today Roberts' works are still enjoyed by those who appreciate the beauty of the Holy Land.
