The fig is the 3rd tree to be mentioned in the Bible and the first tree whose species we still have today. It was the leaves from the fig tree what Adam and Eve used to cover themselves after the Fall. Also, The fig tree is also symbolic of Israel. It is used as a metaphor for the health of the nation both spiritually and physically like in Hosea 9:10.
